Took Maya out in the morning for some one on one time. Tied her up using the tie-ring and groomed her top to bottom. She did exceptionally well. Three loud motorcycles came up the drive way and she was obviously concerned, turning to watch them with her head high and ears forward, but did not do anything too crazy or spook.
Took her into the arena and discovered she is in heat. She wanted to stand and present to Skeeter all day and when I finally gave her a bump on the butt with my stick she kicked out and acted very offended.
In the arena she stood quietly while I tossed both my string and the rope over her. Then did a tiny bit of driving game and porcupine game, some yo-yo, and circle but more like lunging. She mostly walked calmly which is my goal. I led her around the arena and at the far back corner she spooked and backed about 20 ft, I took her back to the spot and she did a little spook in place then was fine.
Put her away and gave her and Max some cookies before heading out on a trail with Max. Made sure to end on a positive note.
